Is it more of a Southern US thing? I'm from the north and only heard it from a southerner. I actually thought it was cute, I thought it came from "babe", but when I found out it was an acronym I kind of winced.

it does come from babe, the "before anyone else" garbage is reverse engineered, it was never an acronym
