It's been a while since i've gone out hunting for fic, so I can't corroborate on how the fics themselves are, but I feel like narrower fics is what readers want more now. If I see one more "but consider this AU" list I'll probably snap. I wish people were more interested in exploring a work's universe and the implications of plot developments on characters, instead of sticking them in a boring coffee shop.
