Re: Slightly OT but ...
(Anonymous) 2014-09-27 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)Here is where I cheerfully admit I looked up a lot of Biblical concepts of angels for the purposes of fanfic. But if you're interested in that, look up the Book of Enoch (archangels, nephilim, the Flood), the Book of Job (Satan pre-Jesus) and the Book of Tobit (Raphael the healer).
I'm always a bit wary about pan-mythological imagery. Keeping in mind things like translation error, continuity of a myth through multiple cultures, and people reporting other people's myths with their own slant. But it is interesting to see what base archetypes and similar events might still echo despite that, yes.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-27 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)GO, Brimstone, and SPN for a short while between S4 and S5. Also some straight-up Bible slash (well, Book of Enoch slash) for prompts. Stories with angels/demons are kind of one of my guilty pleasures, I watch a lot of vaguely religious supernatural shows/movies like Prophecy, Legion, Angel-A, Wings of Desire, Miracles, American Gothic, Brimstone, even Touched by an Angel. Eventually I decided to actually research some of that, you know? Possibly belatedly, really.
