Re: Secretive about fandom

I'm secretive. When my best friend wondering how, with all my problems, I manage to remain so positive, I told her about writing fanfic. She's a writer herself (travel) and I thought she'd understand. For the next four years she'd bring the subject up constantly and try to make me see that I should be writing for money. WHY SO INVESTED IN SOMEONE ELSE'S HOBBY, BEST BUDDY? In the end I said most hobbies make no sense to someone who doesn't share them, and for some reason that one got through. But I keep quiet about it now, except with people I've met through fandom.

man, that is annoying

but i guess you could interpret it as a compliment? like she might be thinking your writing is good enough to get published and make money off it, so why stick with fanfic.

(not that fanfic is bad. if it helps you remain positive? TOTALLY A GOOD THING.)
