I don't feel the need to work hard because, as someone with a visible disability, I'll always be sidelined in absolutely everything I do and there's no possible way I can do well at anything at all, ever.

I call troll. Morieris at least had some reasons and background.

If you're not a troll: have you considered online work? While I know medical transcription is practically a punchline by now, it is actually a job and it can be done online. If you're interested in any sort of creative or computer-related field, those are also options.

Or is it just that we jump to defend people when the magical word 'racism' is invoked. Is my example of ableism not as justifiable then?

She has more reasons given than you do: depression, being in a known discriminatory field. Also, the way you phrased it sounded like an intentional exaggeration of Morieris's rant with a different grounds for discrimination. It's not that I think ableism is more okay than racism.

Chill. There were trolls in morieris' thread and the way you phrased your rant the same way as she did but posted it separately made it look like you were trolling. That call of troll has nothing to do with the sentiment expressed in your post at face value.

You would probably have a more valuable discussion about this in morieris' thread, so it might be an idea to go up and add to the conversation there if you really do want to talk about this issue.

You hate to think what you'd be called for expressing a sentiment similar to morieris' except basing it on different grounds even though you, as you imply you know in your own comment above, would very likely be supported for your rant in that thread as opposed to in this?
