I don't necessarily feel the need to work hard when the scales are so imbalanced against me. I could be five times more talented than anyone else but being a POC, and a woman at that, I'll probably be shafted, not to mention paid less or having my knowledge undermined being in a STEM field. Like...why bother.

I need a damn date, but I'm living at home this semester and as I don't exactly go out with my friends a lot I have no way to cover it up from my parents.

Oh no, they'd be overjoyed if I dated. And also pester me with questions and make me feel weird.

Not to mention the fact that I want to try dating girls, that'll be awkward as heck. Can I just lie and say "hey, I'm meeting up with [insert colleague I'm not actually hanging out with,] incidentally we'll be out all night, which I never do, until now!

Did I mention I'm in grad school? I'm in fucking grad school and worrying about this. Maybe I can just not see anyone until I move away to work. Yeah.

Already sick of idiots who are freaking out about Ebola in TX. This isn't Africa people. Most of us don't believe doctors are trying to curse us. Just don't go rolling around in the bodily fluids of the infected and you'll be okay.

I'm trying to find a particular Tumblr post and I'm having absolutely no luck. I can remember a lot of its identifying details, but not apparently enough to find it. This is aggravating me.

(If anyone happens to have a link handy, it was a piece of Transformers: Rescue Bots fanart with some of the Decepticons as the Rescue Bots instead of the actual characters. There was some explanation as to what everyone did, too.)

Went all the way down to the Apple store today only to find out they don't stock the computer I want and I have to order it online. And they kept trying to upsell me various computers with flash drives. I kept saying I have a ton of stuff, I want the one where I can get a terabyte harddrive. They kept trying to upsell the Air or the Pro with Retinal Scan.

I keep seeing commercials for Hallmark channel and how their annual Countdown to Christmas (where they show Christmas-themed movies) is beginning on Oct. 31 this year. That's Halloween, ffs. A completely separate holiday. I just commented on their website saying that it's a bad decision, that they should be showing Halloween-themed things on Halloween and that they should wait one day to start with Christmas. I said all this nicely, of course, even though I didn't want to.

Is that too much to ask? One day we're just gonna have year-round Christmas and screw all the other holidays -_-

I failed an assignment for the first time ever.

It was a literature review. I'm kinda mad because once I finish this damn degree I am never going to do a literature review ever again. It has literally nothing to do with the job I'm studying for.

Idk why, but I really don't like compliments on my appearance. It annoys me beyond insults actually, and I have no idea why. It isn't like I'm self-conscious or have a bad self-image. I wish I could just accept the silly things and move on (especially since my hangup over these compliments is effecting my dating life ugh).

Got shafted by a guy who has been canceling his dates on me. I've more or less gotten over it and accepted the fact that he will come around when he wants to, if ever.

It left me feeling depressed for the last few days. I am so busy right now but all I want to do is stay at home and curl up in a ball on my bed.

I've been very achy recently and I don't know why. I haven't been doing anything different activity-wise, but I've been having a bunch of various muscle aches, mostly my upper body/extremities. It doesn't seem serious, but it sure is annoying.

My grad program is so incompetently put together that's it's causing me so much stress. I ended up having a breakdown over a completely easy and simple thing because it was the straw that broke the camel's back. Granted, it lasted only five minutes but it was frustrating to have to deal with that.

I hate that people hold opinions so goddamn sacred. Like it having the status of being just an opinion means its untouchable and inarguable.

Related to that, I hate people that think "free speech" means that they get to say anything they want and no one is allowed to speak up and disagree.
