Moreover, do y'all really think those Roman soldiers who settled in Britain didn't consist of the people of the territories Roman had conquered?

Let me help you. The notion that the Romans were the only settlers in Britain, afterward the "purity" of the people was preserved is hilarious. If Nordic countries have a noted Islamic presence, before and after the Romans, the likelihood of Britain being stalwart against outside influences is an untenable position. However, the presence of the Romans notes how long ago we have a record of such a settlement (which says nothing about unrecorded settlements). Also, you seem to be assuming that genetic presence a) doesn't hide, or b) there wasn't any non-white presence that could have married into the peverell clan (despite the fact that it is highly likely based on nomenclature that there was a peverell daughter who married someone else to get to the last name Potter, an occupational last name where occupations were open disproportionately on the non-white people brought/coming into England). I.e. it's perfectly possible a pureblood family could be desi, or black, or asian, it's just not likely what JKR meant.
But saying someone is "unavoidably" white defies the laws of statistics, as well as history.
I didn't think I would have to explain, but most people don't understand probability so.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-01 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)I don't even get your argument. you're saying it's "perfectly possible" because people travel or what?
or is this like a 'medievalpoc' thing?

As for playing historian, i have the evidence i need to suggest such a thing is possible rather than "unavoidable". (Moreover, in universe, what are y'all going to do about Blaise Zabini?) I don't need a thesis to suggest that unavoidability of race of all things is a suspicious thing to say.
