I think anyone who makes a comment like this has never actually been in a situation where they've needed help to step away from the edge. Which - good for you. But don't speak for other people.

Nor have had to talk someone down from the ledge, either.

Seriously, it takes all kinds.

Been in both situations, but whatever, YOU KNOW ME BETTER THAN I DO, rite?

Re: Fandom saved my life

[identity profile] ronsard.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm quite sorry about that. However, it doesn't mean that what happened to you is the only way it has to go down for everyone else. Just look at the responses.

AGREED.

Maybe you can't understand them, but that hardly means you need to condemn them. Does it really piss you off that these people are alive because of something not 'real'?

bad assumption there, anon! :Db

And if you have been in a position like that and still haven't realized that life sometimes doesn't work out the way you want for everyone, I respect you even less.

Oh no. I am respected less by some person on the internet who doesn't even have the balls to post with a username. You know how little that means to me?

It means you're here. Replying. Getting riled up. Being affected.

You're right, it does feel good.

Ohhhh, sorry! Replying =\= actually caring.

Needz empirical evidence.

Re: Fandom saved my life

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-12-16 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, too bad empirical evidence can't be applied to subjectivity.

Instead, let's go for some circumstantial:

I read the comments, and there was no direct indication of anger, resentment, or even agitation.

Corroborative!:

The comment in question is, "Oh no. I am respected less by some person on the internet who doesn't even have the balls to post with a username. You know how little that means to me?"

Cumulative!:

As someone who just doesn't fucking care herself, to me the comments show nothing but a general sense of wtfever do not give a flying shit.

Subjectivity doesn't apply when OP is clearly an absolutist, yo.

No idea what the deal is, haven't actually contributed anything thus far to the conversation, but when I see someone keep coming to something and breaking out into CAPS and SARCASM, I usually, aww, they care.
