so what? a lot of people who once identified as cis also eventually came out as trans. it's still dumb to claim to be 100% positive that someone who explicitly identifies as male is actually genderfluid just because they have a drag persona

especially when the guy in question has been crossdressing since he was a little child and regularly mentions in interviews how conchita is more than just a character and "has always been there"

and how sometimes even when hes spending time with his friends he "can feel his mood changing" and he "becomes that other person" and then his friends call him conchita (and apparently said friends "never get it wrong")

Oh, another member of the identity police, here to save us from the wrong pronoun. Unless you are clairvoyant, take the man at his word. If he changes his mind and he decides that it's any of your business, he will surely say so. The whole "I know more about you that you do, just wait until you're as evolved and enlightened as me and then you will surely concur with MY interpretation of YOUR identity" is just fucking rude.

Seriously, the brightest minds of the last century have failed to come up with a way to categorize gender or sexuality that doesn't have problems with a capital P, and anonymous pinhead can put Tom/Conchita into a shrink-wrapped box on the basis of published interviews.

That doesn't mean you should assume everyone who does drag is trans. Even if you do think someone is trans but closeted, you should understand that insisting they are and assigning them pronouns is a dick move.

This is also true if you know someone is trans, but they're not out to everyone and want you to use different pronouns in front of, say, their family.
