What's the best way to liven up an old fandom that's wound down?

This isn't a case of a briefly, explosively popular recent fandom that's now dying out a couple years after it started. It's a fairly old fandom that's sort of hit a rut and isn't really adding new members or changing much or coming up with any new ideas.

Anyone have experience with a fandom situation like this? I was wondering if a really awesome long creative/bold/fresh fanfic would be a good jump-starter. Does this work? I know this has worked for making tiny fandoms popular, but how about revitalizing old fandoms that have slown to a trickle?

Pimping: Easier than you'd think

So I have this girlfriend who is:

1. A talented writer.
2. A fan of fantasy.
3. A buggery enthusiast.

She's had her first book published by the name of Barren which encompasses all of those things (can be purchased from that link, hint hint).

I'm here to pimp it because of boyfriendly obligations but I think some folks here might enjoy it.

The story: Fantasy kingdom. All te women in the world mysteriously died simultaneously. Roughty toughty hairy northern barbarian type Blair sent out by child king on quest to find out etc. etc. Blair not being the world's greatest thinker is accompanied by lithe nubile Ren. Buggery and questing ensue.

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll probably play with yourself.

Not really compatible with my sexual orientation but the bits between the lewdness pretty damn good. Cheaper on Amazon, I think.

How do you watch your television shows?

Do you watch them live on television? Or do you watch them streaming online? Or do you DVR them for later? Or do you wait until the next day to watch them online on sites like Hulu or Ondemand?

Personally, I find myself watching television less and less live on actual TV and more waiting until they go online the next day. I just find it more convenient to do so.

Also, there's one issue that I forgot to mention before about the poll. It's been suggested to me that allowing multiple votes on the poll lends itself to ties more easily. Would you prefer to have multiple votes on the poll, with the chance of dealing with another tiebreaker poll, or would you rather limit it to one vote to try to avoid the tiebreaker? (No guarantee that that would work, of course. It's just a possibility.)
