Fandoms changing, especially with an influx of new fans, is a bit of a given. Maybe it is driven by a bit of a hipster elitism when you don't like it, but it's pretty fair imo to identify with what you were familiar with (ie: when it was smaller, probably more private) and even resent what it becomes. It's sort of a way to feel old and grumpy on the internet (which is fast tbh).
