the internet taught me that in the us it's apparently bankers and cops.

in france, it's civil servants. there's too many of them, you can't fire them, and all they do is play spider solitaire and complain about how busy they are.

That is very accurate as regards the Internet in the US (or at least the Internety, liberal-ish parts) but not very accurate at all as regards the US
