I'm in the category that Kazdin says they don't have conclusive research on- I was spanked (by which I define as a swat on the butt by a hand- nowhere else and absolutely never with objects) infrequently, averaging out to maybe once a year from age 5 to 10. A spank was serious, but I'm one of those people who was brought up to feel that a parent's disappointment was worse than their anger.

Yup same here. I will never go as far as my father did, I think that was too much. But some (not many but some) really do need to be spanked.
