i'm mostly against it but it depends on the context.

if you have a kid that's doing something dangerous after you specifically told them not to and they know it's something they shouldn't be doing (like running out into the street after you've told them not to), then a swat on the butt is acceptable. most kids respond to a parent yelling at them, but some don't.
