I was also spanked and got worse as a kid, but I also wanted to share another anecdote.

One day my 7th grade English teacher asked us to raise our hands if we had ever been spanked at least once in our entire lives. Everyone raised their hands, everyone except for that one guy who was a COMPLETE spoiled ass. My teacher looked at him and said, "I'm not surprised." in his joking/intense way of speaking. We all giggled nervously. Believe me, that kid was not humiliated. He simply grinned and shrugged. He was an ass. This alone is reason enough for me to spank my kids if they should ever act like he did.
