3. There's nothing wrong with showing your love. But if you go on an and force it on people even after they tell you to stop? Then it's a problem. I've known people like that and it drove me apeshit.

Otherwise, rock on, etc.

In all seriousness though, feel free to dislike all you want. But Zuko is the only one who can decide who is "right" or "wrong" for him.

Amen.

I mean, I haven't gotten to Mai/Zuko yet in my Avatar watching, so for all I know I won't even like it. But it bugs me when people use that kind of argument to put down a pairing--

"They're so WRONG for each other!"
"She doesn't deserve him!"
"He's too young for her!"
"They're too [lustful/violent/quarrelsome/insert other negative adjective] to make a good couple!"
And sometimes, "They're abusive!" when they're not.

Because it seems like they're demanding that pairings measure up to some ethereal standard of The Proper Relationship to be considered acceptable. :/

I encourage you to go into Mai/Zuko without too many of the fandom biases hanging over you. You'll probably be able to enjoy the pairing and the entire arc a lot more that way.

As a Kataang shipper especially, I really can't stand the entirely objective arguments. I've had people tell me things like "Well, I don't like younger men" as reasons it shouldn't happen. To which I can only shake my head.

Don't get me wrong, I hope I will like it and expect this to be the case--I've liked everything else about the show so far. ♥

I don't get that argument about Katara/Aang at all, mostly because I don't see them--at least in the first two seasons when Aang is a twelve-year-old goofball rather than the slightly more mature-looking figure we see in season three--as a big sexy "romantic" couple so much as a pair of cute kids who adore each other in every way and will eventually start a family together. (I mean, whut? Katara's a kid too, you guys, even if she doesn't want to admit it.)
