My, it seems that both you and the OP are making very broad generalizations.
There's such a thing as both good drabbles and bad drabbles, as well as longfic.
Length, in the overall gist of it, doesn't have to account for that. It's the writing itself that does.

You would have to understand the entire situation. And people have every right they want to idolize his creativity, even if he had known everything we are to assume he knew. I'm not going to lie and say I know what's going on there, but I doubt Disney supported the Nazis. And, again, even if he had known what that man stood for-the lesson of Disney was always forgiveness. Maybe that man actually felt bad about what he did.

28. But sometimes the idea is small. Sometimes less is more. Sometimes there's no good fucking reason to plot out a 5,000< word fic or multi-chaptered epic just for that one snapshot in time you want to write.

28. Personally, I'm impressed by anyone who can write something good in only a few words. I tend to prefer to read somewhat longer fics, but I'm more impressed in some ways by a good drabble than a good novel-length fic. I think good writing is more important than the length of the piece. I also think you sound like a major snob.

28. You know? A story doesn't have to be lengthy to be good. If someone can show or tell something in one hundred, three hundred or five hundred words, why should they bother being superfluous just for the sake of making people like you happy?

I was going to write pretty much these exact responses, except saying that as a heterosexual female, yuri makes me want to commit violent, protracted murder. It hurts so much to write liiiiiiies. Thanks for saying what I was thinking. :D

Also, it takes SKILL to write a good drabble, just like it takes skill to write a good long story. Both have their own advantages and challenges, and in the hands of the wrong person can be painful to read. Length doesn't factor into a story's worth.

Personally, I like short fic -- partly because I'm too ADD to sit through epics and partly because if I can read a 1000 word fic and say holy shit, my brain just got owned by imagery/ideas/whatnot, I'm like DAMN, that person is good with words. Kinda like, anyone can describe a complete plot (albeit basic) in 10,000 words... how many people can get the same kind of completion and impact with 1,000?

I know, short fics can't contain epic adventure and huge complex plots and stuff, but when I write/look for fic, that's not really what I'm looking for.

Re: 28 -- but you could kinda ask the same thing to novel writers: if novels are the only things they can put out, why do they bother? Versatility is good, but does that mean the other people should stop? (Not really a drabble writer myself, but hey)
