I don't even like epic fic. Actually, I hate it. I've read GOOD epics, to be sure... But I'd rather read a "decent" drabble than a "great" epic.
I'm interested in fanfic so that I can enjoy my favorite characters. I like drabbles because they focus on a moment with my favorite characters without bludgeoning me over the head with PLOTPLOTPLOTandsomemorePLOT. The plot is not what interests me.
The original series has enough plot for me, anyway.
My favorite drabbles are the well-written ones that connect me with my favorite characters.
I like character introspection. I like seeing interactions that we didn't get to witness in canon. I like capturing a little moment in my favorite character's day-to-day life. I like drabbles because they make me feel intimate with a character, and while Eureka hanging the laundry out to dry and thinking about her children is sweet and tender and heartwarming, if it goes over ~600 words, it's gonna get really monotonous and pointless.
Also, I hate having to stop in the middle of a story, be it a book, fanfic, whatever. It just... it really puts me off. And I don't have time to sit in front of the computer to read 20 chapters when I have other things to do.
