A fic is a fic is a fic is a fic. There are good fics and bad fics and vast amounts of mediocre fic. What does length have to do with quality?

I've read awesome drabbles and epic novel-length fics, and I've read terrible, poorly written things of the same length. I generally prefer my fic to be between 1,000 and 10,000 words, but that's just a preference. Every format is just as likely as every other format to provide something amazing. If I find an awesome novel, I'll read the novel. If I find a superb drabble, I'll read the drabble. Length is irrelevant.

Saying you have no respect for the authors of a particular format seems a bit over the top.

28 - I think writing is often more about quality than quantity. A truly well-written 'drabble' or one-shot might be as effective as a multi-chapter epic.

42 - How did she 'ruin' them, pray? In the case of SG-1, IIRC it's been canon since 'Divide and Conquer' - at least - that she and Jack had feelings for one another (genuinely romantic or not) that went beyond professional conduct.

48 - Hmm, for House I think it varies. They can over-play him being a bastard, true, but when they get it right, it's clear there's meant to be more to the character than him being a git for the sake of it (not that entirely excuses the 'OMG impolite doctor' angle). The key's in how he sees people and the world, and the fact that attitude often wildly differs from the norm.

For crying out loud, if you hate drabbles so much, don't fucking read them. If it says it's a drabble, don't open them.

Exactly, especially if your reading on a site like fanfiction.net where the word count is listed! It's just like yaoi, yuri, and het fics. If you don't like it don't read it.

Second of all, I really hope you(op) at least write, because you have no right to claim anything about respecting(or not) writers if you don't.

That episode is perfect. That whole series to me is about the absurdity of war, and they played that up in the finale perfectly, with sensitivity as well as humor. I cried when I first saw it, it's just completely perfect. To me, the best comedy comes out of stuff that could be good drama or tragedy as well, and Blackadder Goes Forth is a perfect example of that.

20. HEY! Leela is a great woman in her own right. TBH, neither really "deserves" each other--she's really smart and a cut above the rest and on and on, and he's just dumb and goofy and adorkable and on and on; she can be with someone more her equal, and Fry with someone who can accept him for all his wacky faults. And yet they still fit. Though I wouldn't mind a Fry of my own. FUTURAMA (SECRET) FTW. (Also, what ep is that image from? Or is it from the movie?)

28. Eh. Some drabbles are full of suck, yanno, and some longfics are devastatingly horrible. It depends more on the author's skill. Myself, I'm happier with longfics because there's a lot to read and it'll keep me entertained for a good time; drabbles are like tastes to the chocolate bar goodness of longfics. Diff'rent strokes.

I wrote fics about some real people in middle and high school (I graduated over five years ago) and if those guys were ever able to read those fics (impossible, they only exist in comp books buried in storage), they would be disturbed. Not because I put them in sexual situations (other than kissing), but because they were written about at all.

28. Well, sometimes you don't need a lot of words, and if you can say it in 100 words, why bullshit multiple chapters?
