I'm sorry that your workplace isn't handling the situation well. I've done volunteer work with riding for the disabled and it can be a very rewarding and fun experience for everyone if people are correctly supervised, staff have been trained, and the day is well planned.

Ideally, there has to be better communication between carers or the organisation that sets up volunteer openings and your management. I'm not sure what ages or level of independence your volunteers are at, but I would imagine that the people setting this up have assumed your management would provide training to staff and possibly an altered roster so that you had adequate time and resources to assist the volunteers.

I hope something changes before anything bad happens. Poor supervision and animals is a bad combination.
