I was extremely underwhelmed with the last book of the original PJatO series, to the point of being pretty irritated by it.

I DID read the first book of the HoO series and enjoyed it, but I've been dragging my feet on the rest and I think a lot of it is because of my disappointment with how the original series ended and the fact that I am afraid of that happening again.

Reading the comments here, I am thinking that fear may be justified?

That's the sad part. The whole series is really great.

And the end just...didn't quite work.
