Case isn't going to steal your info or report who you are, trust me.

Is it even possible for a normal person to find who you are through an IP address? I thought it was just a number associated with your Internet, or computer, or whatever. so at best, names us give us numbered usernames, for however much that means.

Technically the location can be tracked, I think - I seem to recall at one of the forums I went to once they used it to figure out where someone was posting really weird posts from. But even once the mods did that, they still couldn't do anything. (I forget the whole story, but I was friends with one of the mods in question.) They'd have to call the police or something.

So basically, don't say anything really disturbing, and you'll be fine.

Yeah, it tracks locations, sort of. It's not very accurate. I think maybe it tracks a bunch of them in a general area to one specific place.

Well I looked up my own ip address and correct county, not even close to the correct city, but at least they got my internet provider right?

So I'm not too worried, then again if you found my correct location GPS won't get to my house because it stops quite a bit away from it also you would have to be pretty dedicated to want to actually stalk me that badly.

I'm an admin for another anon comm with IP logging turned on. Out of curiosity, I looked at the IP address on my own anon comments.

Apparently I have a dozen IP addresses, because they kept changing minute on minute, even though I don't use a proxy, and I was at the same location the whole time, using the same device.

Has anyone else noticed this?

It is just a number, but it's not a meaningless number, and yes they can use your IP number to at least figure out what city/state/country you're in.
