I actually never read a fic like that. Just the ones with pages of UST and then a pretty anticlimactic resolution, but not whining. Maybe I'm lucky, or in the wrong fandoms, but yes that sounds awful.

I have come across so many fics like that. I feel your pain, OP.

Teenage angsting about whether or not to "do it" for dozens of chapters is not only boring, it's inappropriate in characters who are supposed to be sane adult men or women. Yet these are the sort of fics that attract kudos like flies on shit, with inane comments about how it's so deep and beautiful.

Urgh.

I was curious too, so I looked. It's called "Throes of Creation by Leonid Osipovich Pasternak (1862-1945), who illustrated the works of Tolstoy and was also the father of the novelist and poet Boris Pasternak.
