I notice that you specifically mentioned animals. Do bugs not count as lives now? Are you as okay with someone exterminating a termite infestation as you are with killing a rat? Is it only the small cute animals that you feel bad for, or would you cry equally over a cockroach or spider or house centipede?

I don't like or enjoy killing animals, but it's a thing that has to be done, and the best you can do is to find a way to do it cleanly and humanely. The way you put it, the fact that I can do something like that without batting an eye makes me somehow not see lives as valuable or be some sort of heartless monster, which is pretty bullshit.

Go ahead and be a bleeding heart and cry over every dead thing if you want, I won't stop you, but don't imply that people who don't are somehow totally evil!!! OMGGgggg so heartless!!! how could you!!!! I dont understand you at all oh noooo

Bugs ARE animals and I font fucking kill them anymore than I'd kill anything else.

You know I might be crazy for valuing all lives equal but at least I'm not jumping to conclusions all over the place, I'm kind of sorry I even brought this up now.

How do you feel about lives that aren't animals?

I feel that I'm having a an anxiety attack now and I can't blame anybody but myself when I should know better that this could have triggered it so I think I'm gonna just count this as the stupidest thing I've ever done on impulse and just go calm myself down.

>You know I might be crazy for valuing all lives equal but at least I'm not jumping to conclusions all over the place

Oh aren't you!

>it's making me upset to have to listen to, like they are making it into a joke or something like it's just so casual

Hmm. You know what that sounds like to me? That sounds like someone jumping to a conclusion!

>I'm starting to just get tired of getting upset every day while other people just seem to not bat an eye at anything.

'Oh no I'm so upset and sad, no one else is sad LIKE ME because they aren't OBVIOUSLY CRYING like me'

Hey you know what that sounds like? Another conclusion! You're assuming how people feel about stuff based on how people act. If they aren't being obviously sad then obviously they don't feel anything, right? Because that's totally how feelings work!

Except it's not.

>I want to know, do you feel like every life is valuable

Yes.

>or am I a crazy person

For suggesting that just because I don't burst out in tears every time I see a dead animal or eat meat I don't value life and making it out to be some kind of binary EITHER YOU CARE OR YOU DONT choice? I think you're pretty nuts.

>are the people who don't bat an eye at death the crazy ones

'I noticed you don't react to something IN THE SAME WAY I DO. I'm now going to imply you're nuts because if I don't, then I must be nuts, and I don't want to be nuts!'

This is how you're coming across. If this is not how you want to come across, you should probably reconsider your words.

>Man I don't even know why I'm putting this out in public.

Probably because you wanted affirmation.

thanks

I'm a failure at socializing and I've been in and out of anxiety the last few days so I probably didn't word things right and yeah okay I am obviously the one with the problem. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Look, if you're basically reaching the point where you're making statements like 'am I crazy or is EVERYONE ELSE CRAZY instead' seriously and there's no real middle ground... yeah, it's probably your anxiety speaking. I honestly do hope that you find some way to address that, because it does sound pretty stressful and hard on you as well. I am sorry that you feel that way about things. It's okay to care about stuff and to let yourself be affected by things around you. Everyone does. But knowing how to cope with that and go on and having coping skills as well as knowing how to self settle are all pretty important too.

Anyway, I'd say that the caring part is fine, but the stress about things is probably your anxiety speaking. Removing yourself from the trigger (i.e. not going near stuff you care about) doesn't actually fix the underlying issues of the fact that you freak out pretty bad about stressors that most people can cope with. I was being completely serious about suggesting therapy - talking with people and getting how you feel out can be helpful in cases like yours.

Sorry, it is the anxiety talking and I should know better than to talk when I'm anxious and calm down first. I've been a wreck there's so much crap going on in my life right now. A lot of people are sick and dying and having to deal with this whole animal thing is just the icing on the cake.

I've spoken to doctors about my anxiety before and lets just say it never goes well. I've just found it more efficient to cope on my own and take meds in emergencies.

I made the mistake of making the OP in the first place on a whim and I'm sorry about it. It was worded badly and I should have known it would just get me upset if people weren't blunt and started asking me questions.

I mean this in the nicest way possible - FS general comments is probably not where you want to go when you are feeling like this. It does sound like you could use some support and people to just sorta talk to who won't be harsh on you, and god knows this place harsh most days and doesn't really go easy on anyone. It may be familiar, but it's not necessarily ideal.

If you're not comfortable with doctors and prefer anonymity, could I suggest sites like http://www.7cupsoftea.com/ or https://www.bigwhitewall.us ? Both of which may be more able to provide you with the kind of responses that would actually help more at this point in time. Another pretty safe / supportive space I know of is http://www.reddit.com/r/offmychest - yes, it's reddit, but it has a very strictly enforced and modded community that does focus on helping people when they need to vent or get things... well, off their chest, as the name says. The regulars there are all pretty nice, as well, and it's a little more anonymous than the other two.

Anyway, whatever happens best of luck dealing. It does sound like you might not be in the best place right now, but I hope that you might be able to be in the future, if possible.
