And at what point in this conversation were you asked to feel sympathy for Snape? The contention of this secret is that anyone who thinks Gryffindors can be bullies must have been an asshole as a kid. The Marauder incident, aside from being extremely potent to people in the audience with similar experiences, is also the single most blatant moment where a Gryffindor is the bully. Or, in this case, four of them are. Naturally the incident is going to come up, because it's the most prominent incident that fits the criteria for the secret/thread, and it is a genuinely blatant and vicious moment of bullying. You have been the one constantly bringing up Snape's role and his character, which seems to imply that you think that only incidents of bullying towards 'good' characters count. I have repeatedly said that the fact that Snape was the victim is not the part of the incident that concerns me. I did not ask you to feel sorry for him at any point, only to acknowledge that Potter's act of bullying is an act of bullying, and can legitimately affect people in the audience who've had similar experiences from bullies in their own life.

I am sorry that you feel being asked to acknowledge that a group of kids ganging up on someone anywhere from two- to four-to-one, disarming and publicly humiliating them for shits and giggles constitutes an unbearable request to be sympathetic to their racist asshole of a victim, and thank you for the illustration of your priorities.

At one point did I deny that the Marauders were bullying Snape? Yes it was bullying. No that one situation does not constitute some people's insistence that Gryffindor is a 'house of bullies'.

I don't see what's wrong with me not feeling sympathy toward Snape. He was bullied, yes. That's not okay. I still don't feel sympathy toward his character, no.

At what point in your conversation with me did I say that Gryffindor was a house of bullies? The contention of this secret, to which my comment was a response and to which you have been responding to me, was:

"When people complain about Gryffindor bullies, I immediately assume they were assholes as children."

I responded with a comment highlighting an incident in canon where a Gryffindor was a bully, and my response to that incident, and why I believed that was a reasonable response given my own experiences. You responded to that by asking why I focused on that incident instead of other ones with innocent victims, despite the fact that most of those incidents do not have a Gryffindor as the aggressor, and despite the fact that I explained why that incident stuck out for me in light of both the context of the discussion and in light of my own experiences.

I don't give a damn what you feel towards Snape. I am angry because, in the context of the secret and the thread in which we are having this discussion, you have done nothing but dismiss the incident of Gryffindor bullying I was responding to, and thus my response to it and my right to make that response in light of the accusation in the secret, on the grounds that you do not like the personality of the victim in that particular incident.

If that was not your intent, and if we have been arguing at cross-purposes based on different understandings of the context of this discussion, then I apologise for my vehemence. In the context of a thread calling me an asshole for reacting to an act of bullying that strongly echoed one I had suffered when I was younger, I responded with anger to your percieved dismissal of that act and the legitimacy of my response to it.
