Sword Art Online

I can't remember the last time I felt like a series had such wasted potential. The concept was so cool to me, as a gamer and fantasy lover, and I even liked the art. And some of the little quirks and ideas were really fun. But wow, the story and direction. I got through the first arc (which is apparently only half a season despite feeling like the entire story) and a little bit of the second arc and realized it was just not going to happen. Especially the second arc, wtf.

I loved the first part, full stop. Cool story, great fight scenes, beautiful art, great nods to all things MMO, a kick-ass power couple that balanced their duty as fighters with their romantic life. Ended perfectly. Exactly my kind of show.

Then the second part happened. Blah.

Seconding this. The first part especially had a lot of great potential but it wasn't explored much and outright ignored in some areas. Plus, it was fucked over by poor writing. If only someone competant had written it.
