Wank's upsetting because fandom is only the starting point -- maybe you like a particular character, or pairing, or you didn't find a particular episode 'problematic'... And, suddenly, it's escalated and it's all about RL issues, and you find yourself on the 'wrong side' of the debate, being made to feel like an irredeemably bad person, when you actually agree with 99% of what the wankers are saying, but they won't listen to you because you like that character, or pairing, or didn't think that episode was 'problematic'.

Sometimes, fandom's like bloody Salem.
