That's really frustrating. Sounds like your parents are no small part of the reason he's still a jerk. :(

They say my brother is just a little late to mature and he'll change. He's still only 23, so they may yet be right. And they do try, just...I feel they are less concerned with fairness and more with artificial peace much of the time. But my brother (who is not the person I originally wrote about, just your story made me think of him) is a good-hearted person so I hope they are right.
