(Anonymous) 2014-11-03 12:32 am (UTC)(link)Randall was forgiven because the theme of the story was loyalty and friendship. He was forgiven because at one point, he had shown Henry great kindness and treated him like a brother. I'm not saying that just because Randall "paid in" to their friendship when they were kids, that he is entitled to a clean slate, but for Henry, the act of kindness was enough. Besides, once Randall realized how wrong he was, it's not like he kept at the revenge thing.
But now that you mention it, it is mentioned somewhere that Henry did have some feelings for Angela. I'll buy that Henry never crossed that line, but I could just imagine the sexual tension throughout the years.
On a side note, I really liked the 'Masked Gentleman' role, it was like one cohesive 'fuck you' to all of Randall's friends.
And on a flat-out tangent, I admit I am little biased here, as Miracle Mask is one of my favorite games in the series, possibly my favorite. Not just for the overall story, but for the fact it was another window into Layton's younger years, showing what really drove him to pursue archaeology.
