IDK, I always associate "How you doin'?" (and of course tone/demeanor are a factor here) with being a chatup line, someone trying to initiate conversation that could lead to a hookup. It's usually not someone legitimately asking how you are feeling. So for me, I really don't want to hear that from some stranger on the street, especially if they try to get in my space while saying it. I'd be extremely uncomfortable.

I was raised not to speak to strangers. I took the same bus with a group of people who lived on the same block as me every day for three years, and I only ever spoke to any of them once or twice in that time period.
