I have been really tired and thirsty for the past 5-6 days. Been drinking plenty of water but doesn't seem to help.

Is there any reason to suspect you might be developing Type II diabetes?

I'm overweight but have last a large amount of weight over the past year. no history of it in the family. Dont really have any of the other symptoms, as far as I can recall.

DA

Hmmm. Well, regular check-ups are a good idea anyway, especially to get bloodwork done and test for type II diabetes. You don't have to have a family history in order to have it, unfortunately.

It's getting to be winter time (unless you're in Australia or something), so all the dry air that comes from winter/indoor heating could make you more thirsty.

If you're tired and such, make sure you're getting enough iron in your diet.

Having said that, this shit sometimes comes in cycles. Check your diet/etc, and then give it a while. I know the anon above me mentioned diabetes, but it doesn't just come on right away, and all the symptoms of diabetes (including this) are symptoms of a large number of other things, so check all those first. Obviously consider it, but if this is the only symptom and it's not an ongoing pattern, consider other things as well.

Could you just be coming down with something? 5-6 days is less than the incubation period for some things.

I would get a urine test to rule out diabetes, but its probably just a mild infection or even just the change of the seasons causing your body to do something weird. Human bodies do weird stuff all the time often for little discernible reason, but get the pee test anyway just in case.

These days most doctors test your blood to determine if you have diabetes, the A1c test to be precise. It gives a more accurate longterm picture of your blood sugar levels than the urine test.

Seasons changing?

Are you peeing a lot, or do you just crave water?

Are you drinking ice cold water? Ice cold liquids can actually make you feel sluggish, especially after a big meal. Plus, you pee a lot.

Are you eating salty things too (especially as the holidays come around)?
