It is a nice sounding word and I've come across much worse names, like an ex-coworker who named her daughter Cliche because she thought it sounded pretty. And she *was* a native English speaker.

That is truly tragic.

I had a coworker who named her son Letcher. Even after she was told "lecher" means dirty old man. Her comment to that person was "It's spelled differently." Yeah, but my name is Stacy and it's still Stacey when the e is in it.

Oh and the _reason_ she and her hubby chose that name? Because they liked Fletcher, but her first name started with L and they wanted the kid's first name to begin with L. And no, they were NOT teenagers. Thank god I no longer work with her.

Poor kid.

There's no fix for willful stupidity. That poor kid...

I kid you not, I knew a guy in school named Rusty. His last name was Nail. Neither bad by themselves, but.

I went to school with a Royal Worm, Michael Jackson and James Bond.

...I went to school with a kid named Kenny McCormick. I'm shocked he hasn't legally changed his name yet.

...and, no, he hasn't died yet.

I went to school with a girl named Desiree Semen. My hand to god.
