I feel the same re: Ward's past not being an excuse. People liking him isn't surprising (people have liked 'worse' characters, I'm sure), I just don't see why you wouldn't admit, "Yea, he's done some terrible shit and probably isn't someone you should instantly forgive or trust."

I don't want a redemption arc at all tbh (because so far I feel like Ward hasn't shown he's sorry for his actions, or understands why he was wrong), but if it happens, it happens. (We'll see if they do anything interesting with it.)

At the moment I'd say that it seems like they're not going there, none of the other characters forgive him and the dude doesn't regret his actions at all. Which I'm fine with because tbh I've been enjoying his brand of slimy evil while at the same time wanting to smack him for even looking at Skye.

None of this is a guarantee that they'll keep him bad ofc, but I kind of have hopes that they will? It'd be nice anyway(I do like villain redemption but sometimes, man it is not deserved).

Same, his obsession with Skye creeps me the fuck out. He's been so manipulative and non-apologetic about everything that I don't want him anywhere near the team; he doesn't deserve them. (And, like you said, I don't understand how the cast could forgive him and accept him back into the fold. I can't imagine him doing or saying anything that would have that sort of impact on them.)

Are redemption arcs great? Sure, they can be! I just...don't think it would fit here, and I don't know how they could do it and not screw it up.

I like that none of them have been even close to forgiving him, and while Skye may have been a bit too trusting of him it was more over information he had about her father than any feelings she may still have for him.

Yeah they can be done well but in this case unless the dude really, really turns himself around in the span of a season(and even then) I wouldn't be able to buy a redemption arc from him.

Yeaaaa, not every villain needs a redemption arc, you know? Sometimes it's more believable if they don't have one, and sometimes it's more interesting that way too.

Plus, Loki (since we're talking about Marvel villains)...look, I've said this before: I like Loki, but his redemption bit in TDW didn't last long and why anyone would ever trust him is beyond my comprehension. Ward...well, his crimes are different, but I kind of feel the same; I just don't think redemption is terribly likely at this point.

Aye, sometimes it would be infeasible as well. Like how could anyone take that person back after all the shit that they've done. I do like villain redemptions but yeah, sometimes it just doesn't fit.

God I love Loki but yeah, I have to agree that I do not know how Thor will be able to forgive him after this betrayal, he might considering that Thor has a huge heart but, one too many knocks is all it takes and he's already had so many(I'm making myself sad, good lord. *imagines Thor cuddling puppies*).

You should be imagining Thor cuddling puppies shirtless. While laughing.
