Rimming really grossed me out until I realized this.

Rimming is a kink of mine in fiction but only in fiction for that reason.

Rimmming feels great if both parties can relax about the fact that they've cleaned and prepared for it. Otherwise, unless that's your kink, it's a big no.

I feel the same way about oral, actually. I don't find it fun if the parts aren't recently cleaned, although the standard is less rigorous than for rimming.

Same here. In fiction/fanfic it's so hot, but not so much IRL.

I just headcanon that they've cleaned thoroughly everywhere before anal sex occurs of any kind, even when it's not possible for them to have done so. Sometimes I imagine they've stopped to clean themselves halfway through as well, if they're flipping activities.

I do worry about others picking up bad sex tips though, and coming away with horrible infections in RL when they try to recreate the stories.

Rimming still grosses me out if there's no mention of anybody showering first. Or owning a bidet. Or something.
