I usually notice it and don't let it bug me too much but recently in the htgawm fandom, the disparity between the fandom's love for Wes and Connor has ticked me off.

Oh god this is the worst. I mean, it's cool having an openly gay character, but Connor is inarguably a shitty person. Wes is sunshine and rainbows condensed into human form. Where is the Wes love? D:

Thank you. I used to think this about Wes (initially), but lsately he's so gray, I've just realized no one really has him (nor his motives) pinned down. I feel like he's probably the worst, but that's only a guess because everyone's shittiness is out in the open. I feel like he's just got a whole can of darkness waiting inside. Pain is okay, but I just feel like there is something wrong with him. Either that or his actor is just doing a really good job.

BS: He's secretly an android. His feelings have been fabricated.

Okay, I was exaggerating. But I do think he's a goodhearted, altruistic person and I really hope they don't turn him into a generic grimdark protag. He's one of the few LG type characters on the show (maybe the only one) and I like the contrast.

I love Wes. :3 (But then I'm neither a writer or artist and I don't even read fic in this fandom, so...)

Also, Oliver is too good for Connor and I wish there was a chance he'd keep the hottie from last episode, but nooooo....

That might actually be part of the reason for the disparity - fandom tends to love inarguably shitty people. Nice characters often get less love regardless of any other factors.

5 minutes after the episode's over every second of Connor's scenes has been giffed to death nevermind the other characters.

Also it's not just Connor, even Asher gets more fandom love than Wes or Annalise.
