I haven't seen other people bring this up yet, maybe because I haven't been involved in fandom long enough? Idk. It's good to hear other people have noticed it and I'm not just seeing things.

Nah, you're not seeing things. As others note in this thread, fandom loves its bland white males and is pretty obvious about it.

I remember years ago that the TF2 fandom lamented not having enough love for Demoman (back when the comics revealing they're off-hours friends came out) because there was MILLIONS of fanart pieces for everyone except him. It was probably a 50:1 ratio on tf2chan alone.

So it's not new, but OP's the first person to speak about it generally that I've seen.
