It's not like I watch this show expecting unicorns and rainbows but jesus the most recent episode was disturbing as fuck. I don't know why since I watch a lot of fucked up stuff, a lot of which is probably more violent/graphic/etc. but something about that episode just really, really bothered me.

Was it the relatively-nice prostitute getting hacked into pieces, or Dell's totally excessive violence? Because that's what most bothered me.

All of it, but mostly Dell's violence. What he did to that poor doctor (who is one of the very few actually decent people on this show) was horrific (and hit home for me because my dad is a doctor and the idea of someone completely ruining his life like that made me want to cry) and I honestly thought he was going to kill Desiree at one point. The whole situation of being closeted and feeling like he has to live a lie and feeling like a freak was depressing as well, not because of Dell (I felt no sympathy for him specifically because he's so awful) but because it's true to life and I've been there before. Desiree's whole story of thinking she's a "freak" and because of that she doesn't deserve any better than Dell (though that at least had a semi-happy ending; I'm hoping she gets that "normal life" she was talking about). Gloria enabling and covering up her son's crimes. And finally, yes, poor Andy getting dismembered while still alive. It was all just so, so disturbing and fucked up.
