It's the same 'pattern' whose reason explains why gay characters and couples are taken over by slash ships with white heterosexual guys that won't be canon or at the very least are just queer baiting.
Ppl over places like tumblr talk about representation all the time but it seems to me that "bad writers' and 'minorities are underpresented' are in fact becoming a pretext to ignore the few queer/poc characters we actually have in favor of (often underdeveloped) white guys.
