I liked Capaldi before he was the Doctor. However, I find 12 completely uninteresting.

11 is and always will be my doctor.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-08 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
9 is my Doctor, but I love 12.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-08 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
He is unquestionably one of the best actors ever to play the Doctor, isn't he?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-08 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd say he and Eccles are the two best, yes,

David Tennant should be but he Gurned way too much. He was Mr Gurny.

DA

I will never forget the GIFset from Waters of Mars going around Tumblr back in the day, with Tennant going "IDK if I sold [the regeneration] enough/was emotional enough" and I'm like DUDE YOU MEAN IT COULDA BEEN WORSE NOOOOOOOOO ahahaha. He pretty much chewed through the planet, never mind the scenery....

Uggh, I like classic who pretty well, but I wish people would stop complaining about Ten's regeneration. Each body has a slightly different personality, and one of Ten's things was that he was massively egotistical. More so than Sixie, even.

He knows that when he regenerates, it's the end of something; he won't be quite the same person anymore. All the regenerations are different, there's no reason melodrama isn't a valid choice of tone. If they hadn't built up to it with Water of Mars and the Time Lord Triumphant, it wouldn't have made sense, but with the way they kept egging his character into darker and darker territory, I thought it worked. /my humble opinion

i think the problem with it is that its such aa long series tyhat nooone wants to feel like one docotr is more important. even if thyre wrong, u make a big deal aobut one doctor you make it seem like hes more important.

I was on board with Ten sulking and huffing his way through his regeneration, but that was way too long.

I don't have a favorite Doctor - I never had - it's just hard to choose only one because they're all really good and have their own charms and flaws that you learn to live with.

But I feel like I'm leaning a lot towards 12 recently, idk, maybe it's because he's the one who's on now, but he's just really, really good. Even his character is awesome, imo, I mean he's a mixture of funny and sweet and grumpy, it's just very intriguing. (also, well yeah, he's hot but that's just a bonus, lol)
I'm gonna have to wait until his take is over to decide if I'm still lingering on to him, like with you and 11, and see if he's really my favorite.

...Twelve would seriously outpace Four for best Doctor if the writing were even remotely passable imo.

I so wish Capaldi was being given better material.

Eleven is still my favorite, but Twelve has quickly become my second favorite. I agree with you, though, that Twelve works better with Clara.

I wouldn't say that my admiration is quite on the same level as yours, but I've definitely really been enjoying his turn (if not necessarily the scripts he's had to work with). The way he delivers his lines, the way he moves (and, sometimes, the way he doesn't move), the way he inhabits a space... He gives the Doctor depth in kind of a subtle way, and it's very effective.

Welcome to good, experienced actors :)

Without a doubt, Twelve is better with Clara, but I think that's more because the writing for her is better now that she is a character rather than a plot point.

It took awhile for me to warm up to Twelve but I like him well enough. I don't know if I'll ever love him like I loved Eleven but he has his moments. And even when I didn't like him, I thought Peter Capaldi was doing a fine job.

I really liked him in the beginning, but the longer the season drags on, the less I do.

Peter Capaldi is still awesome, but I have almost zero interest in his Doctor now.

Not that my opinion counts for much since I only started watching a couple of years ago...

Peter Capaldi is absolutely wonderful in the role. I had a feeling he would be, despite never really seeing him in anything before, but it was still nice to see him really make the role his ow. I've enjoyed this season of Doctor Who more than any since the RTD era.

All of the actors who've played the Doctor in the revived series have been wonderful, but I must say I've enjoyed 12 much more than 11. That's nothing to do with the acting though, just the writing. 12 and Clara just have a much better dynamic and better chemistry.

I'd like him a lot more if I could understand what he is saying.
