I ship Bucky/Tony

(Anonymous) 2014-11-09 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sorry. I think they've both been fucked over a lot, and when Bucky comes back to himself he'll regain a bit of his cocky ass persona from the first Cap movie, and he and Tony can just snark and laugh and be with someone who won't take 'mean' things they say the wrong way

That sounds like a beautiful relationship. You've convinced me. I'm climbing aboard this ship.

This series turns into Tony/Bucky/Steve but the first story and part of the second are just Tony/Bucky and it's the entire reason I jumped on board these two

Why would Bucky need Tony when he has Steve? Do we have to include Tony in fucking everything? He's like Wolverine at this point.

You can have a brother and a lover you know. Steve doesn't have to be everything for Bucky.

It makes far more sense for that though. I just don't understand why some pair up characters that don't even have anything to do with each other instead of going with the ones that are practically canon. I can't imagine Bucky ever tolerating Tony, especially after how much of a dick Tony has been to Steve and how much Steve is annoyed by him.

Bucky might be put off by Tony's ability to be an abrasive jackass, but I doubt the early tension between Tony and Steve would even register as a factor. They were two people on equal footing being dicks to one another, not one guy taking shots at someone who couldn't fight back, a la the rescue scene in the alley at the beginning of The First Avenger.

Except Tony was being a dick to Steve even before the scepter scene and, judging by the AOU trailer (and the fact that Civil War is happening), is still being something of a disagreeable jerk. As Steve's #1 fanboy, I doubt Bucky would give Tony the time of day. Buck doesn't even have anything to do with him in the comics IIRC.

No one said anything about the scepter. There doesn't need to be any sort of arcane influence for two people with very different personalities to not get along, and there's no indication that Bucky's so attached to Steve's hip that he's incapable of being civil to anyone who doesn't want to be Steve's bestest buddy. He steps up and defends Steve in the alley, yeah, but that's an entirely different situation. The dude in the alley was trying to cave his friend's head in; Tony was being snarky. Pretty mildly snarky - no more so than he is to his actual friends - until the scepter scene, as a matter of fact.

I don't ship Bucky/Tony - I don't ship Bucky/Anyone because Bucky's more plot device than character in TWS - I just think it's ridiculous to suggest that two grown adults bickering and then getting the fuck over themselves and working together is reasonable cause for the friends of one of said grown adults to hate the other party. Anyone who reacts that badly to reciprocated bickering with one of their friends is half a step away from bunny boiling stalker crazy.

and he and Tony can just snark and laugh and be with someone who won't take 'mean' things they say the wrong way

lol you say that like they don't both already have someone they can do that with. I mean, ship what you want to ship, I don't care, but come on. Bucky and Steve give each other shit in TFA and then hug it out, and Rhodey's been friends with Tony for like 30 years, I'm pretty sure he can take whatever Tony throws at him.

Honestly I just can't see Steve and Bucky as anything other than brothers. And I've never bought into Rhodey being friends with Tony in the MCU it just didn't gel with me for some reason; maybe the rotating actors hurt it- it was better in IM3. (My MCU OTP is actually Pepper/Tony though)

but Bucky already snarks and laughs and has a 'vitriolic best buds' relationship with Steve? did you actually watch the first CA?

Again, I see them as brothers; family already. Just didn't get the lovers vibe. Though I'm not really much of a fan of the childhood friends turn to lovers trope in fiction anyways, so...
