That's different though, now we're talking romanisation.
That's always open to interpreatation and (within certain bounds, of course) there is no wrong way to spell a Japanese name or anything else written in a non-roman alphabet in roman letters, even if there are preferred or official ways.
The varying ways people write Japanese character names can be irksome, but I always find it tolerable since they're just interprating. It's not like with western people from countries that use this alphabet where every name has only one spelling and everything else is wrong, without discussion. That's where it really gets bothersome.
