(Anonymous) 2014-11-09 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)boyfriend putting his girlfriend on a different ship in a moment of crisis to avoid the appearance of favoritism >>>>>>>>>> Spock attempting to kill Kirk
What I take from their argument is that everything Spock did to Kirk and viceversa is forgivable because of reasons and Kirk should have a relationship with him regardless because they're ~soulmates, but apparently Uhura and Spock have an abusive relationship because of the farragut scene and because he was rude to Kirk.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-09 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)You seem to not understand the notion of character development. That it's possible to find Spock to be out-of-control, lashing out at those he's supposed to protect, and borderline cruel in the first film while in the second, his care for his crew, the softening of his treatment of others due to the loss of his mother, and his greater cooperatively make him FAR more likable.
I've said over and over again that I can't ship or like Kirk and Spock together after the first movie BECAUSE of their antagonism and hostility through the course of that film. They get past it to a level where they tolerate each other and have some respect, but it's not nearly enough.
Post-STID, though? That's a completely different ball game because they've both developed and grown up.
Not because they're soul mates, but because they both stopped being so selfish and they help each other to be better people.
That's my opinion. You're welcome to disagree.
