And Uhura is WITH the man who tried to kill his first officer and almost fucked over her career AND my problem with this is that she's with him WHILE he's like this. Not after. Not when he's had a chance to grow. No -- WHILE he is saying and doing these things. That's a huge fucking problem for me.

You seem to not understand the notion of character development. That it's possible to find Spock to be out-of-control, lashing out at those he's supposed to protect, and borderline cruel in the first film while in the second, his care for his crew, the softening of his treatment of others due to the loss of his mother, and his greater cooperatively make him FAR more likable.

I've said over and over again that I can't ship or like Kirk and Spock together after the first movie BECAUSE of their antagonism and hostility through the course of that film. They get past it to a level where they tolerate each other and have some respect, but it's not nearly enough.

Post-STID, though? That's a completely different ball game because they've both developed and grown up.

Not because they're soul mates, but because they both stopped being so selfish and they help each other to be better people.
