Clearly at least some of us are going to have a very cold winter. We've already had 39 degree weather here in Boston during the day (and even a few degrees colder at night). And it has been so windy and rainy that it feels colder than that.

It's only been in the 50s here. NEEDS TO BE COLDER.

Also we need all of the rain (and snow in the mountains) so hopefully it will be a wet winter.

No rain. I'll take all the snow, but the rain is just awful. Especially when it is so windy that my umbrella blows inside out.

Seems like we're going to have a below average November for a while. Going to be in the thirties and forties later this week.

I know how annoying this is going to sound to people in places that actually have weather, but I'm in California and I can't wait. It's been the hottest summer in several years and it won't cool down for long at all.

The thing about the cold is, you can do plenty of things about it -- long pajamas, hot water-bottles, space-heaters, tights, jackets, awesome knock-off motorcycle boots from Target that you think make you look hard rock but actually just exacerbate how short you are (guilty)...with the heat, short of locking yourself in a very air-conditioned environment or having access to a pool 24-hours a day (and believe me, the public pool problem in most parts of LA is deplorable. By the time you get back to your home from the pool or the beach, you're hot again), you just have to wait it out.

Bring it on, rain and biting wind!

I don't actually mind the cold at the right time. It is just starting really early and accompanied by wind and rain. It is really the wind and rain I hate. Once we get snow, I'll be more happy. Also, my winter coat is in storage, and I won't be able to get it until the weekend.

Nah, I prefer cold weather to hot. Easier to warm yourself up than to cool yourself down.

I keep hearing this, but over here we had an Indian summer and it's a fairly mild autumn so far.

I usually love Autumn. My favorite season. But it has been so rainy here I haven't been able to enjoy it.

If this winter is anything like last winter I am going to be extremely grateful for my emergency generator. I will also be spending a lot of time just sleeping.

Well fuck, they're predicting daytime highs in the 20s for the week after next, here in Lutefiskville.

I've gone from a country where temperatures in winter go down to -40 to a country where they don't go below +40. This is my first winter here. Imagine the cognitive dissonance I'm experiencing right now.

I assume we're using Fahrenheit here?

Last winter I was playing Skyrim a lot. I turned it off and went outside and was still in Skyrim.

I'm more frustrated with the ups and downs this week. Last week I feel like it was 30-40 all day on Sunday (I work outside on Sundays, so it's more noticeable to me on that day) Then I know it got up to high 60s low 70s on Wednesday? and then back down to 50s all day today. I just know I'm going to get sick because of this.

This place is so fucking northern hemisphere-centric.

And that's why I said some of us. I was only referring to my own weather.

Great, now I can tease my brother about how my Canada has been warmer than his Boston. :P I am breaking out the longjohns and cozy socks, though.

Power outages in NB and PEI already, apparently.

I'm already looking for a snow shovel to leave in my car. My job has on-street parking only and I got stuck twice last year.

It's 85ºF outside. I'm wearing a tank top and a 3/4 sleeve cardi. This is a normal thing for a SoCal autumn, though. Much-needed rain on Halloween, a week of "cold" (read: low 60s) and windy, and then a weekend in the upper 80s.

Not looking forward to the real full force of the Santa Anas, and fire season. We've had a pittance of rain. :(
