I feel this. I usually learn my lesson after getting burned by something, but not with WIPs. I just keep going back to them like this time something will turn out different. Wish I knew what it was about them that made me keep crawling back haha.

Haha, same. I mean, sometimes I'll be about to click on a fic, see 'WIP' and go, "NOPE", but more often than not I click anyway then become incredibly disappointed when it remains forever unfinished. I spent almost all Sunday reading a LOTR/Hobbit fic that I really hope gets completed at some point.

The worst is when I see a WIP I'm interested in and I don't click it, but then a few days later I see that it updated, so I convince myself that this one really will update regularly... Then after I read it, it never gets updated again. One even updated on my birthday, so I took it as a good omen. That'll teach me to be superstitious. =P

Ouch...that must have been incredibly frustrating! Poor you.

I guess it takes some mighty strong willpower. I have a hard time resisting a good summary or premise, but waiting can be a pain in the ass (even though an understandable one), and then of course you never know if what you're reading will be finished or not... I wish I could stick with completed stories, but I won't.
