The Yiddish Policemen's Union. Oh my god, Chabon in the hands of the Coen bros = YES PLEASE!! But as far as I know, there isn't even a script yet (and that begs the question of what language said script should be in...).

While I think the novel's going to go on to be regarded an enduring classic of the decade, I think the time for a movie while it's still topical is ticking rapidly. If it's not in the next 3-4 years while Adrien Brody can still play Landsman, it might have to wait until 2035 when everything from the mid-2000s is reexamined and re-appreciated with heavy nostalgia.

Aw, reading the quote from Chabon about it makes him seem like he is so sad the Coen brothers moved on. :(

"In the fall of 2012, however, Chabon told Mother Jones that "the Coen brothers wrote a draft of a script and then they seemed to move on," and that the film rights had "lapsed back to me.""

Oh, I hadn't heard that! :( They just seem such a natural fit.

Maybe Wes Anderson will do it some day (he and Chabon are friends...), or, better pairing: Gentlemen of the Road. And obviously Kavalier & Clay can only be done justice in miniseries format.
