The Klingons have the 'noble warrior' thing going for them. These guys...not so much.

I think the Cardassians have their own concern with honor. It's obviously completely different from the way that Klingons deal with honor, and much more complex and nuanced, but they have a little of that Roman severity to them, I think. There's definitely a strong concern with the glory of the state and the honor of the family, at the same time as they're also all amoral self-interested schemers.

I wonder what the Cardassians would have made of 'Julius Caesar'....

Remember, Bashir did show Garek "Julius Caesar" to Garek in "Improbable Cause." Garek thought it was a silly play. That how could Julius not see the betrayal coming from a mile away. But then in the next episode "The Die is Cast" Garek is on Tain's ship ship with Odo and the whole thing blows apart because Garek and Tain couldn't see the betrayal coming from the Romulans because one of them was actually a Foundling. To which Garek sees how the play does have a point. "The fault is not in our stars but within ourselves."

Don't feel ashamed. I am just really, really, really to the point of sad geeky about that show.

I'm sorry, I don't want to derail and I agree that episode was brilliant but

Tain's ship ship

this made me laugh a lot

Dammit, I type too fast and I never proof read. That's my own damn fault.

Klingons are just space Vikings, the Cardassian culture and that strong state control seems more realistic and therefore more awful. I wish we could have seen more of it in the show - the glimpses where you see the level of media propaganda and then the stuff with Damar seeing his country being betrayed was really fascinating.

Oh man, the Klingons never worked for me. The constant wails of "honor!!!" just got really, really tiresome. However, a lot of people seem to like them anyway. Different strokes, I guess.
