I like mostly slash ships, although there are het ships I prefer in certain fandoms and I've read/enjoyed femslash.

Uh, Teen Wolf is my main fandom but I don't know that I'm in the target demographic.

I always wonder with Teen Wolf - the vast majority of fans I ran into seem to not be the target demographic.

I always thought target demos was a stupid concept anyway. Who care how old someone is if they're contributing to ratings, right?

I feel the same - though it really stand out with teen wolf for me.

It makes advertising easier to sell. Certain products are really going to appeal more to teenage boys than they are to senior women, and vice versa. (Not all products, of course, I'm thinking things like wheelchairs or Axe here.) Having a target demographic makes it easier to convince advertisers of products aimed at teenage boys or senior women that people of that demographic watch the show. While it would be nice if shows didn't need to sell advertising, unfortunately that is not true.

TBH I don't think I've ever known a Teen Wolf fan who was a teen...

(Granted, most of the Teen Wolf fans I know are f!s regulars, and I could be wrong about their ages, but...yea. Plenty of non-teens watch TW.)

True for here. I think a large percentage of the fic writers and Tumblr fans are teens. At least they come across that way!

Haha, IDK man, IDK. Some of the best fic I've read in recent years has been TW fic, so I try not to assume! (People DO get really crazy about TW on tumblr though...)

Iirc, f!s generally ranges from early 20's to mid 30's. When was the last time we had an age survey thread... But I also think that the folk who come here aren't necessarily a good gauge to get a handle on a fandom, or community, they're accidentally repping. We tend to skew too cool ♥

Haha, yea, I think you're right about that. F!S is certainly not an extremely accurate representative for all fandom, just a small sample size. Early 20's to mid 30's sounds about right from what I can remember as well, but I'm fairly certain we have middle aged members too, just maybe not quite as many.

For some reason I tend to think most TW fans are in their 20's, but maybe F!S is the cause of that so my perception is probably askew... Now I'm really want to see the numbers.
