I don't think it's a shameful interest, especially on the Internet. Sure, the huge anime craze of the 2000s has sort of died down, but liking anime has now become a lot more common and mainstream, I think. Maybe that's why people are a lot more casual about it now, because it's no longer a shiny new thing in Western media anymore.

Yeah there's a difference between liking anime and doing something that gets you plastered on "I made it through my weeaboo phase, you can too." That difference is largely behavioural.

I actually think it's picked back up, at least in the areas I frequent. There are some really good series out these days, and I'm seeing a fair amount of anime fandom around.

I think there's more people on FS somewhat interested in anime than people who hate it and consider it childish and who cares about them anyway.

The reason I'm not getting a dreamwidth account is that I'm lazy and I don't know if I would use it much other than for FS.

Depends on what you're watching, no? Even other anime fans are going to check out your taste and think you're childish, an edgelord, a hikki, or whatever else that can be asspulled. I don't think f!s has a lot of strong feelings on the matter anyway, not unless you're openly a loli/shotacon.

anywho I watch a shit ton of children's cartoons. Babar is on my list of things to refinish atm. Outshame me.

er um. yeah. i'm 27 and i love anime & manga still. i don't even care. honestly, it's really awkward to talk to teenagers about it especially since i'm this old and i can't connect to them as much. but... i still love it. i still want to squeal, and gush, and ship, and just talk about anime. it's one of my main passions in my life and it saved my life when i was younger.

i don't think i'll ever "outgrow" it.
