I can't quite tell, but I'm guessing you're upset about a certain type of art?

YESS there are these people drawing this character as if she has a "real body" but it's annoying because, she's from a period piece and she wears a corset which of course changes her body's shape, and because "real bodies" aren't just size 10 and up, they come in all shapes and sizes. She isn't "not real" just because she's skinny.

And I know that people who aren't skinny have gotten a lot of shit in the recent past and me feeling bad isn't anything like a person who isn't skinny feeling bad. But I really don't like the idea that I don't have a "real body" just because I'm thin.

I agree with you on the principle that body positivity should include thin bodies.

I'm a little confused on the character stuff. I don't know the character, but... like, I'm confused about the way you're describing the character and the relationship between the corset and her body shape, I guess, and why that means that she must be skinny. I am just confused.

Sorry, I can see how it would be confusing.

She's thin to begin with and corsets have a slimming effect on top of that. When she's dressed, she's wearing a corset, because that's the time period. There are people specifically drawing her without a corset and with being non-thin because that's more "realistic." But it's not unrealistic to have her wear a corset, because she wears one in canon, and it's not unrealistic to have her be thin, because thin people exist.

SA - that makes sense, thanks for the clarification!

Personally, I don't think it's that weird to draw her without a corset, it's just different costumes. And similarly, drawing the character as larger is fine, it's just an interpretation. But yeah, calling that more realistic is weird.
